Office Desk Organizing Tips
Offices need to be organized and orderly if the day-to-day operations are to be effective and productive — whether it’s the whole company or a single desk. Without good organization, you might not know the location of important items. Therefore, you need to establish a good system, especially when your workstation is chaotic. Here are a few simple tips to keep your desk organized:
- Sort paperwork as best as you can — the last thing you need is to be buried under a pile of documents, letters and mail, assuming you haven’t gone completely digital. You can avoid clutter and disorganization with a file cabinet or paper organizer if space allows. Use a paper shredder to eliminate old documents.
- Keep your desktop clutter-free. Remove items that you don’t use on a daily basis. Organize the remaining items with baskets and containers, or place these inside your desk drawer.
- Organize your drawers by separating items by function and purpose with dividers. This is an excellent way to keep clutter off your desk, and designate a specific location for each document you need throughout the day.
- Find a storage space for personal items. This includes your purse, cellphone and other belongings. You can place a bin underneath your desk for these items, or store them neatly on a hook behind your door or inside a closet — the less items on your desk, the better.
